In this millennium scientists have become experts in creating products and certain technologies that provide people the opportunity to restore or regain their youthful appearance. A variety of new products and procedures are coming up every year. The majority have been positively received by customers and the medical associations. Juvederm treatments are considered to be one of the advocated ones. It’s a famous “wrinkle filler.” Therefore it has been accepted in medical clinics many years ago. It can be used to soothe out the wrinkles around the eyes and nose as well as the laugh lines around the mouth. Being dermal filler, it can be injected in concave areas of the skin.

This smooth consistency   gel is then injected in targeted areas of the skin for example the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth which is known as nasolabial folds. As hyaluronic acid is of user friendly nature since it is a natural substance produced by the body, Juvederm is considered as a safe substance that the body can learn to accept and adapt to. It has been approved by the FDA. In fact it is the one approved so far, to last for up to one year after injection.

Considering the conditions of the wrinkles and of the skin, the doctors can recommend one of the three main types of the gel based on power and effectiveness. There’s Juvederm treatment 18, 24, or 30. Juvederm 18 is the lowest in terms of strength of the three. It may be injected closest to the surface of the skin. The greater the number is, the deeper it must be injected .Juvederm works best on the area where it has been mostly injected as hyaluronic acid is a rapid water absorber. It therefore assembles mass and volume. When injected just underneath the skin, the gel gradually increases in volume and stretches and makes the skins smooth above. Hyaluronic acid also secures on to collagen and elastin therefore promoting the transportation of important nutrients to the skin tissue.

Important Caution About Juvederm Treatments

Unfortunately not everything about Juvederm treatment is botox to treat tmjall fine and dandy. Like other cosmetic treatments, there have been several complaints of negative side effects that most patients had to experience. These side effects are nagging pain after injections, pain during the procedure, redness and soreness, swelling, bruising, and especially the gel spreading to unwanted areas.

Of course, these negative effects will occur only if the patient is incompatible with the substance. The body rejects the product and will prevent itself to acclimate to the gel. The most serious side-effect reported so far is the lump formation which is known as granulomas. These are unfortunately very difficult to treat. It is always important to have a compatibility test from your clinic first.

Furthermore, patients should be aware that like most cosmetic procedures, Juvederm is not permanent. They will have to undertake several sessions so as to extend the effectiveness of the substance. What eventually happens is that the body absorbs the hyaluronic acid which has been injected. Consequently this is why after several months, faint wrinkles and lines will begin to reappear. Soon after that the gel will have to be changed to preserve the smoothness of the skin above.

How long does it take before most of the hyaluronic acid is absorbed by the body and a wrinkle appears again?

It actually depends on several factors. The dosage, the amount of the gel used, and the reaction of the patient to Juvederm, all contribute in the effectiveness of the treatment. It also can take as long as one year before a follow-up session will be required. Some are not so fortunate hence will have to repeat the treatment as soon as six months after the first.

The cost of the Juvederm treatments can vary around $300-$1000 per syringe. Depending on the severity or area of the skin that has to be treated, a patient may need a higher dosage or maybe more than one syringe.

Always remember that not everybody will react similarly to cosmetic procedures especially to substance such as Juvederm. Each person has a specific physical makeup, and his or her body’s reactions may not stick with the expected norm. Keep an open mind if ever you think of giving this treatment a try.
