That’s why we’re excited to offer Radiesse lip fillers – an innovative injectable filler treatment that adds volume and shape for beautiful, natural-looking results.

Radiesse is an FDA-approved dermal filler that has been safely used for contouring and smoothing lips since 2006. It is made out of tiny calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel. It is an effective filler provides both instant and long-lasting lip plumping:

  • The microspheres immediately add volume.
  • The gel stimulates natural collagen production over time.

Radiesse smooths out lip lines and wrinkles while adding beautiful shape and contour. The smooth gel formula provides the right amount of support to plump thin lips or reshape uneven, aging lips.

Get the Answers You Need – Radiesse Lip Filler FAQs

Can Radiesse Filler be Used in the Lips?

Yes, Radiesse filler is commonly used for lip enhancement and shaping. It adds volume to thin lips and can be used to accentuate the cupid’s bow or create more definition. Radiesse provides structure and support to maintain lip fullness over time.

Radiesse lip filler typically lasts 10-12 months or longer, making it an excellent value compared to hyaluronic acid fillers. It provides more gradual volume loss, so you don’t have to get touch-ups as frequently.

Can Radiesse Dermal Filler Also Be Used in Other Facial Areas, Such as the Cheeks?

Radiesse is highly effective for volume enhancement in the cheeks and midface. As we age, we lose facial fat which leads to a sunken, hollow look. Radiesse can add lift and replenish volume in the cheek area for a rested, youthful appearance. It integrates seamlessly into your facial structure.

Radiesse is also commonly used to fill out sunken lower eyelids, minimize the appearance of dark under-eye circles, soften etched tear troughs, and give a smooth contour along the cheekbone.

What is the Difference Between Lip Injections and Fillers?

The terms injections and fillers are sometimes used interchangeably, but there is a difference.

Dermal filler is a substance implanted under your skin to add volume and fullness. The most common fillers are hyaluronic acid (Restylane, Juvederm) and calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse).

Injections refer to the technique of infusing filler using a fine needle or cannula. Professionals “inject” soft tissue fillers like Radiesse into the lips to augment their shape and size. Both hyaluronic acid and Radiesse are considered injectable lip fillers.

Is Radiesse or Juvederm Better for Lip Fillers?

When it comes to selecting a dermal filler for your lips, Radiesse and Juvederm are two excellent options. Both FDA-approved fillers safely add volume to the lips. However, there are some differences between the two:

RadiesseJuvederm
Filler ContentContains tiny calcium-based microspheres suspended in a hyaluronic acid gel.Uses a smooth hyaluronic acid gel formulation.
Results DurationTypically lasts 12-18 months or longer in the lips.Lip enhancement lasts about 9-12 months.
Feel and MoldabilityHas a thicker, more viscous gel texture.Tends to have a smoother consistency and may be slightly easier to mold.

Our specialists thoughtfully consider your cosmetic goals, lips anatomy, skin type and injection sites when selecting between Radiesse or Juvederm. Both can effectively enhance the lips with gorgeous results in expert hands.

Are Lip Filler Procedures Ever Covered by Insurance?

Unfortunately, lip filler injections are considered cosmetic procedures, so they are not covered by health insurance plans. You will be responsible for paying the full cost of Radiesse or other dermal filler treatments out of pocket.

Some practices offer financing options or payment plans to help break up the cost into more affordable monthly payments. Many patients find lip fillers well worth the investment, given the dramatic yet natural enhancement they provide.

What Precautions Should I Take Before and After Getting Lip Fillers?

There are some simple precautions to follow before and after your lip filler appointment:

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, etc. for 10-14 days pre-treatment as they increase the risk of bleeding and bruising.
  • Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours before your injection as this also thins the blood.
  • Hydrate well by drinking plenty of water to keep your skin flexible and resilient.
  • Use a numbing cream for 30 minutes prior to ease discomfort.
  • Apply ice packs after to reduce swelling.
  • Avoid extreme heat like saunas or intense workouts for 24 hours post-treatment.
  • Don’t touch or massage the area to prevent filler from shifting.
  • Wait 24 hours before applying makeup over the injection sites.

Following these tips will help minimize side effects for the best possible outcome.

What changes should I expect in my lips after using fillers?

Right after the injections, expect your lips to feel slightly swollen, numb and stiff. This subsides within a few hours as the filler settles.

Over the next 24-48 hours, you’ll start to see the beautiful enhancements, including:

  • Increased fullness and projection of the upper and lower lips
  • More defined vermillion borders and accentuated Cupid’s bow
  • Smoothing of vertical lip lines around the mouth
  • A reduction in smoking lines and minor wrinkles of the lips
  • Improved balance and harmony between the upper and lower lips
  • An overall plumper, more voluptuous and youthful lip contour

While your lips may feel sore for 2-3 days, discomfort is minimal. Bruising can occur but fades quickly. Be gentle while your lips are healing. You’ll soon be able to enjoy your new gorgeous, kissable pout! Let us know if you have any concerns during your recovery.
