Botox has been used for many different medical uses. It was originally approved to treat lazy eye and eyelid spasms. Physicians noticed the botox was smoothing out the wrinkles around the eyes and after clinical trials it was approved by the FDA to treat wrinkles. Botox is now the most popular cosmetic procedure in the United States. Microbotox is the newest treatment approved to improve acne and skin texture.

The Microbotox technique is now being used to treat acne and improve skin texture. The Botox is diluted and injected in multiple areas in very small doses. The Botox is spread more evenly in the area treated and the chance of over treatment is less. For those who suffer from recalcitrant acne problems, the botox can be injected superficially in the skin. This slows down the production of sebum(the oily secretions that cause acne) and the patient sees a dramatic improvement in their acne. Ongoing treatments are recommended to keep the acne from returning.

Microbotox is also used to improve skin texture. Many people do not like the “frozen” look that comes from using too much Botox in certain areas of the face. By using the microbotox technique, the skin texture is smoothed using less botox.
