Removing unwanted hair has become a popular procedure for both men and women. But what are the hair removal options for light colored hair patients? Laser hair removal is a great and easy option, but not always what we first recommend for patients with light colored hair and skin. Electrolysis may be a better option for these clients.
How Laser Hair Removal Works
Laser hair removal is a process that has been used for many years on thousands of patients. The laser targets and destroys the hair follicle while saving the surrounding tissue. The laser is attracted to the pigment of darker hair and blonde or even grey hair does not have enough pigment to have a successful treatment. Laser hair removal can treat a larger area in a shorter amount of time, but may not be successful for clients with light colored skin and/or hair.
Electrolysis May Be the Answer
We recommend electrolysis for our clients with light colored skin and/or hair. Electrolysis is the permanent removal of unwanted hair. The process is removing each individual hair by a chemical or heat source. A probe is entered into each follicle and then removed by tweezers. This is the best option for light colored hair as it does not require a laser. We recommend several treatments because the hair grows at different schedules.
