We often receive calls from patients who have had fillers under their eyes and report having a blue discoloration under the skin where the filler was injected. This discoloration is called the “Tyndall effect”. The Tyndall effect happens when the filler is placed superficially under the eye. This does not happen with every patient, but it is common because of the result of light scattering from a small optical cavity created when the hyaluronic acid filler reflects light through thin skin. It appears as a bluish bump or flat area and can be resolved by dissolving some or all of the filler product with Hylenex.
Belotero is the best dermal filler to use under the eyes and in the tear trough area. It can be used superficially without causing a bluish tint under the thin skin around the eyes. Belotero is an injectable dermal filler that is used to smooth out etched in wrinkles in the face. Upon injection, it immediately integrates evenly into the face. There is little to no downtime and results are typically seen right away. Results typically last six months, but may last longer in some patients.
